[ Terry is on his way to visit Kido like he has been doing for the past several days. There probably isn't much to do when you're blind, after all... at least for someone who had recently become that way. This time, he has his cat family follow him, since he wonders if being surrounded by four kittens and a cat would make Kido happy. He also has a small plastic bag hung from his arm and it looks pretty heavy and full. The answer reveals itself when Terry gets out another breakfast bar and munches away at it.
[ There really isn't anything to do at all after the first two days of tests and finding nothing wrong. No brain bleed. No signs of idiopathic hypertension. Nothing at all to do besides going through therapy to relearn how to navigate the world without sight: an hour of walking around the halls with supervision, and then the rest of the day in bed with her earbuds in and staring at what's supposed to be the ceiling except it's all black.
Today, though, Terry enters an empty room, except the light to the bathroom is on and then there's Kido stomping out of the bathroom and slamming both hands down on Terry's shoulders and giving them a little shake.
She wants to shout something like "Terrence!! It's a modern day miracle!!!!" but the words aren't coming out in her all her astonishment of being able to distinguish shapes and colors again. All she can do is urgently shake Terry's shoulders and hope he understands. ]
[ Even though Kido was blind before, she had her eyes open. However, this time feels different with the way Kido has steady direction and takes stride toward him in confidence and is able to grab onto his shoulders in her first try. His eyes are wide and he nearly drops the plastic bag in shock, but he continues to stand there, staring at her right in the eyes. ]
[ She gives his shoulders another couple of shakes, for emphasis. ]
Just this morning! Everything just fixed itself!
[ The first thing she'd done was run to the bathroom to stare at herself in the mirror. Ignoring the terrible bedhead she's still sporting, her eyes looked fine, they properly turned red when she switched on her powers and went away when she disabled them.
She has no idea how and honestly doesn't care; the shock and the confusion don't matter either, just the sheer amount of relief that comes crashing down all at once. ]
An unnatural blackness settles in. Despite how it's supposed to be morning, it's pitch black. He still feels the weight of the plastic bag and Kido's hands on his shoulders so he knows he hasn't passed out or anything.
Maybe, somehow, in this god forsaken place, being blind is a contagious condition. ]
He'll treasure every single smile Kido shows him anyway, even if he can't see it........ although, hearing that from Kido makes his face a little red. Just a bit. It's so nice to hear that from someone, and it feels like it means more when it's Kido telling him that. He closes his eyes and smiles. Kido didn't notice anything out of place, so it must definitely mean it's only on his end. ]
[ The cats mew over at Kido and Umi, the youngest kitten that has a knack for judging Kido, goes over to her and sits on her foot just because. Then she looks up to Kido and meows some more. The other kittens are not shy about their affections with Kido either, so they pretty much gather around her, rubbing her ankles and purring whenever she pets them. Ami, the mother cat looks fondly over everything, but stays by Terry's side, because she knows. She knows something is off with him.
Terry doesn't move away from his spot and stays where he is, unsure of what to do. Kido sounds happy, and he doesn't want to ruin that right now. Thankfully, Ami is here to help him think of something to do. She nuzzles Terry's leg and Terry bends over to pick her up in his arms. Thanks, kitty. ]
I brought them over so that you can at least pet them if you couldn't see... They really like you a lot.
[ Sitting on her foot is at least initiating contact, a far cry of how she usually has to silently trail after cats because they won't let her pet them. Being able to play with overly friendly cats like this... the dream. ]
You thought of things to that extent, huh? Thanks... I'm always glad to see them around.
[ She thought maybe because she fed them one time or another, but maybe they're getting used to her now and that's even better.
After getting some more pets in, Kido stands up again. ]
Why don't you take a seat on the bed or something? I'll be right back.
[ Gotta go back to the bathroom and tame this bedhead. ]
[ After Kido goes to the bathroom, he uses pinpointing to locate the bed. Thankfully, his spatial intelligence doesn't absolutely suck like other... areas of his intelligence, so he makes it to the bed without trouble and sits on the edge of it. He keeps petting Ami in his arms while the four kittens follow Kido to the bathroom, meowing after her all the meanwhile. What a cute train of kitties.
He has hopes though, since Kido's condition was temporary. Maybe his will be too. But the thing is, he has never heard of a contagious blind disease and he hadn't done anything in particular yesterday that resulted in a head injury.
[ High blood pressure can cause blindness and it's a wonder that half the game hasn't gone blind with how much screaming goes on.
Kido lets the cats into the bathroom and then shuts the door behind her, coming out after a few minutes to pull her two jackets on, hoodie up so there was little point in brushing her hair to begin with. ]
I'll go talk to the doctors and can probably leave today. Are you busy the rest of the day?
Oh, um... no. I'm free today. Did you want to go somewhere?
[ He feels like he can hear better now that he can't see. They do say robbing one of the senses heightens the other ones that are still active, and. Hm. Feels weird, man. Also, he doesn't want to stay in the hospital again... ]
Yeah. Well, not that I had anything particular in mind... But you've been here with me a lot, so I want to make up for that.
[ Is there anywhere fun to go in a rural little town like Hirajiro? She'll have to think on it. I hope Kido spends the entire thread never realizing that Terry is blind though. ]
It must've been boring though, just sitting around talking or listening to music and not really doing much else besides that.
[ Terry doesn't strike her as the sort of person who's good at sitting around quietly doing nothing for long stretches of time, so while it was nice having his company, it was also with those sorts of guilty thoughts weighing at the back of her mind. ]
What do you think about walking to the shrine? I haven't been there for a while, and I should probably give my thanks.
[ And it's on higher ground, so it'll probably look nice up there, like what Terry was saying about sunsets on skyscrapers or something. ]
Yeah... Mondo was taking care of it when I first met him, but it's also been a long time since then. I bet the water basin's all dried out by now...
[ Few memories of this place are as vivid as Rei sticking her hand in the water and sticking mold in her mouth, so maybe it's a good thing if all the water has dried up in the heat and the mold is dead. ]
Anyways, I'll meet you down at the entrance, alright?
[ Terry gets up and lets Ami down so that she can call her children back. The kittens scamper to Ami's side and they follow Terry out the room. There's no spring in his step like usual when he's happy, but rather his steps seem a little slower than usual. He manages to get out of the room without bumping into anything though. Ami nuzzles his ankle, depending on which direction he needs to go, so it's kinda like having a blind guide as a cat.
Then he'll stand outside at the entrance, waiting for Kido and playing with the cats in the meantime. He usually doesn't give them this much attention, but he really needs a distraction. ]
[ Weird... He's probably pretty tired, Kido thinks to herself as she watches Terry go before heading to the nurse's station. Even if there's nothing to do but sit around in a hospital, there's a real difference between sleep and rest; Kido's been doing a lot of sleeping since there's little else she can do, but being in a hospital puts her on edge enough that she can't quite be comfortable unless she has music blaring in her ears or somebody there to talk to. Must be how Terry felt, asking her to stay the night before.
It's a while before she's out, making sure the doctors are aware and that she has all her things together before stepping outside again, squinting and tugging the hood down past her eyes the moment she steps outside. She hasn't seen the sun in days, and she'd forgotten how harsh the light can be. ]
[ That's fair; the sun's really bright even if the weather's cooled down significantly since the weeks before, so Kido doesn't think anything of it as she shoves her hands into her pockets and keeps her eyes down on the ground to make sure she's not stepping on any of the cats' tails or anything. ]
The cats? They always somehow come back to me even when we get separated, so it's really up to them whether they want to follow or not. We'll see when we start walking.
[ He's been pinpointing directions to the shrine and hopes for the best that he won't run into anyone. ]

Right? It was really just some temporary thing... But this is great; I've missed seeing you.
