[ She bites back whatever emotions are threatening to well up, and clears her throat, speaking up a little. ]

It was August 15, 2012. So that date can't be right. If all of this happened just this year, I wouldn't have forgotten any of it.

[ ... Maybe he needs to visit Minato again. Maybe he'd be worried about showing up all of a sudden as if he looks fine because compared to last time, that would be a 180 difference, but. Terry's own tact is a slow climb. ]

[ Maybe Minato will give him the "I don't know, I'm not God" spiel, but it's worth a visit anyways. Kido's not the only one with screwy memories and multiple AUs, after all. ]

[ He gets a sudden epiphany. ]

[ She can't recall Sasuke as well, and all she gets from Souji's name is a vague sense of annoyance, but she can't forget Rei. ]

[ I wish he wasn't so stupid sometimes. I have to flip a coin to see if a remotely smart statement even goes through his head. If it lands on tails, I just delete it. Goodbye, smart thoughts. ]

[ Kido was too busy moping and being self-absorbed, shh ]

I didn't think we would have survived that, honestly... Someone must have gotten to us in time.

[ It's Terry's turn to hold himself back when he hears that. He tries drinking the rest of his warm soup by lifting the bowl, but it no longer feels appetizing because all he can remember is the stench of burnt flesh and blood that he continuously vomited before. His stomach churns as if mimicking the uncomfortable effects of being poisoned, but he suppresses it. ]

... Yeah. I'm glad you two will be fine from that burning storehouse incident. I really am.

[ ...

Terry gets off the counter chair. ]

I'll be right back.

[ He needs to regain his mental composure in the bathroom by taking deep breaths. ]

Okay...

[ Kido watches Terry leave and shut the bathroom door, before turning back to her soup. None of her business if he just really had to pee or whatever. She finishes her soup quickly enough after that, and then sets the bowl in the sink to wash after Terry is finished with his. The rest of the soup, if there's any left over, can be put away in containers for later, she thinks as she opens up the cupboard trying to remember where everything is. ]

[ It doesn't take long before Terry comes back, washed his face and hands to snap out of whatever he's feeling right now. He spots Kido in the kitchen and brings his empty bowl over since he did finish it earlier. ]

Looking for something?

Containers to put leftovers in. I'll familiarize myself with everything again soon... I should probably do that for the town, too.

[ At least the shopping center, or anywhere important she'll need to remember where it is. That forest is going to be hell to get her head around again.

Kido pulls her head out of the cupboard and looks over at Terry, at his damp bangs. ]

Is everything okay? I can open the windows if it's hot.

[ Terry shakes his head no. ]

It's hotter outside, so it's okay.

[ That didn't really answer her question... anyway, he'll go and stand next to her and points to various places as he goes down the list: ]

That's dishes, bowls, and cups. Next one has containers. The one after that has spices and whatever else, since we don't have much in the first place. Silverware go in the drawer next to the stove.

[ His gaze falls on the fridge. ]

... I should probably go grocery shopping soon.

[ Not having much stuff makes things easy to memorize, and Kido opens the cabinet for the containers to pull several smaller ones out to portion the soup out. ]

I'll go. I've done enough lying around doing nothing...

[ She throws a glance over her shoulder towards the end of the hall where Terry's room is, pauses for a second, and then looks two doors over to where her room should be, if she's remembering correctly. ]

Did I own a wallet and everything before?

[ Before she offers to go shopping, does she even have any money? Both the wallet and phone are in her room somewhere; she didn't really own much beside some clothes and too many stuffed animals. ]

I... think you had a wallet? You definitely had a phone though.

[ He still doesn't want it back, so Kido can keep that forever. ]

Let me get mine from my room and then I can help you find yours after.

[ Yeah that takes like 10 seconds. ]

Sure. I'll finish things up here, and maybe we can go to the grocery store together after.

[ He can show her where it is again, and then carry most of the bags because they don't have a car or dick chariot or anything to carry things back with ]

[ He doesn't want a dick chariot, so he'll be fine... He knocks on the door to Kido's room after a bit after checking the fridge. ]

Kido, did you find the stuff yet? Let's go grocery shopping together.

[ There's no response, at first. With such a sparse room, she had found her things quickly, had her hair tied up in a ponytail since she doesn't have a hoodie to keep it all together in, and put the wallet in her pants pocket. She had found the phone, but instead of putting that away too, she's left staring down at the home screen.

It's the omelet, with a smiley face drawn on it with ketchup.

It would always make her smile, looking at it, and even now the want to smile is there. But instead, a tear rolls down her cheek and she can't understand why— why seeing it makes her want to be happy, why she can't be happy despite of it. ]

Yeah. I got it.

[ Her voice comes out thick, slightly muffled because she's wiping the tears off with the back of her bare arm. She's not crying; there are just tears. She breathes in and out and they are no tears.

Everything is fine. She opens the door and steps out. ]

Let's go.

[ Terry thought he heard wrong because the door was closed, so of course the sound would be muffled. It strikes him as strange, but decides not to question it. He was typing out the groceries on the note function of his phone, typing it all out with the blasted T9 keypad. It seems that he's more or less used to it, but his thumbs are still trying to get the hang of typing even faster. That will take a while. ]

We need eggs, parsley, maybe some beef...

[ ... ]

I want fried chicken.

[ Terry would rather suffer a T9 keypad than his audio diary phone...

Kido tries to think of what Terry was planning to make with eggs and parsley, but at the mention of fried chicken, she speaks up, voice still a little off but not as noticeable when she's speaking quietly instead of speaking up through a door. ]

If it's fried chicken, I can make it. We'll need a couple more ingredients, though.

[ Or they can go out and eat, but nah. Kido's never been one to go to sit-down restaurants often, especially if she can make it home, so she thinks nothing more of it as she heads out the door, pulling her hands back over her shoulders without thinking and forgetting that there's no hood to throw over her head. Right, right, got to deal with the sun from now on, until she can go out and buy herself another hoodie. ]

Can you? That would be great. I'll jot down the ingredients so I don't forget.

[ There he goes, typing away at the keypad again with one hand, but with his free hand, he'll casually grab Kido's as they walk to the farmer's market. ]

Some chocolate too... and fruits... seafood pasta ingredients...

[ His thumb sure is busy. ]

Yeah...

[ It takes a second, but Kido holds onto his hand too, and starts down the street with the hesitation of somebody who lengthens their stride to lead the way because somebody has to be the eyes while Terry's tapping away on his phone, but also she has no idea where they're going. ]

Do we need that much food? What have you been eating before this?

[ They pass by a bunch of middle schoolers loitering around on the street, and the whispers start.

"Hey, look over there! It's the Ghost Girl!" "Scary... Let's get out of here." "No way, you really believe that?" "Yeah, I heard she died in that hospital. That place is cursed, you know?" "I heard that too! That this girl got real sick and lost all her hair and died! That's not her real hair!" "Haha, that's gross!" "Prove it! I dare you to pull on it!" "No, you do it!"

etc etc kids suck ]

[ Middle school students probably don't know any better.

Despite that, Terry's not particularly in the mood to hear those things said by Kido, if ever, really. He looks up, stops typing away at the keypad and glares at the group of kids to serve as a warning.

If any of you kids even take a step in their direction, it looks like Terry will have to partake in the first NPC kill in the game. ]

[ Anyway, he turns to Kido, smiling as if that just didn't happen. ]

They're mostly for you! Chocolate and fruits help your body feel better by reducing pain and lower stress hormones.

[ The only reason why he can sound smart about it is because he often had to eat these during recovery phase back home, where Jace piled them on Terry because Jace couldn't cook for shit. ]

I thought it could help a little and... I just feel like eating pasta, I guess.
